About Me

Welcome to my website. My name is José Alberto Luzardo (a.k.a. JAL).  I am an Embedded Control Systems Engineer versed in the mathematical complexity of control and signal processing, their modeling, simulation and real time implementation. I am a U.S. Citizen.

I offer my professional services in the area of Embedded (real time) Control Systems, and am also open to a challenging and active full time position in the same area. Specifically my consulting services cover:

  1. Physical system analysis with Simulink / Matlab / Scilab. Applying fundamental equations to mathematically model physical systems considering their non-linear limitations and other real-life details for accurate representation. Comprehensive simulation, as real as possible, using Simulink / Matlab / Scilab. Well-documented modular simulation ideal for version control, code generation and real time simulation.
  2. Controller design from PID to robust control to adaptive control, and other complex controllers, such as, neural network controllers, non-linear controllers, internal model controllers, etc. The design includes the final and functional algorithm coded either by using code-generation or manually writing the corresponding code.
  3. Implementation and testing of automation algorithms in embedded systems. Implementation is done either using fixed-point math or floating-point math, as required.
  4. Analysis, simulation and synthesis of digital signal processing / signal analysis algorithms and their real time implementation as above.
  5. Education. I love teaching, training, mentoring and tutoring, especially in my area of expertise, and I am always eager to learn from others because I know that I do not know everything. I prepare courses, classes and training on-line or in person. I tailored my classes to your needs.
  6. Documentation. You can trust my documentation. If it’s not easy to understand and comprehensive, covering all the aspects of the subject, I very gladly write it again until you are happy. I don’t believe in securing my income by hiding information. I’m candid and honest.

Sometimes you just need an expert on embedded control systems for a very specific duty, such as tuning or implementing an embedded control system or another real time automation scheme, for a short time, until “it works perfectly,” and other times you need an expert permanently on your side as a full-time employee. I can be either.

This website was born in April 2017 as a way to assist me in spreading my professional passion. I am open to all good opportunities: full time jobs, training, education, contracts on-site, telecommuting. I will travel or relocate to almost anywhere in the United States.

This website, along with my résumé, will help you assess me professionally, spanning from my communication to my technical skills. My technical videos, presentations, articles, and publications are the focus of this website. They are posted as they are available or completed.

The Control Systems / DSP menu (at the top menu bar) will take you to my videos, presentations and articles discussing the mathematical theory and concepts of important industrial applications in the area of Control Systems and Digital Signal Processing (DSP), with the purpose of implementing them in real time within an embedded system. The Embedded System / Firmware menu will take you to my videos and presentations on firmware architecture and strategies, IDEs, debugging, microcontrollers and their programming, hardware/firmware connection, etc.

Please, navigate thoroughly my web site, watch all videos and presentations, and feel free to request a copy of my résumé and download my professional publications from the Downloads menu. This website is a work in progress and will be updated with new content regularly so be sure to connect with me via LinkedIn, subscribe to my Control Systems Embedded YouTube channel, or simply add yourself to this website’s mailing list to be informed of updates as appropriate (see corresponding badge/button/form on the right navigation bar). I look forward to hearing from you soon.
